From invisible to found: three months of local SEO for an IT company in Broward County

FTL Technology Group is an IT support company in Broward County. It is run by my brother, which made it the hardest client to impress and the best place to start. In June 2026 it was invisible in local search: no listings anywhere on the web, eight old reviews, and a Google profile nobody had touched in years. Here is what changed by September, and exactly what did it.

What changed

June to September, in four numbers.

22

Google reviews, up from 8, at a 5.0 rating.

40

Local listings live across the web, up from zero.

+62.8%

Profile views in July, compared to the same month last year.

6

Leads from Google by early September, five of them jobs. No ads.

Where it started

A business can be very good at what it does and still not exist as far as Google is concerned. That was FTL in June. The Google profile had the wrong category, no services listed, and no photos of the actual work. There were no directory listings, so Google had nothing to cross-check the business against. Eight reviews, all older than a year, sat unanswered. When someone nearby searched for IT support, FTL was not in the results.

What I did, in order

  1. Rebuilt the Google profile. Right primary category, every service listed with a plain description, real photos, hours, and a description written for a customer, not a search engine. The profile is the first thing a local customer sees, so it got treated like a storefront.
  2. Built the listings from zero. Forty directory listings with the same name, address, and phone on each one. This is the unglamorous part, and it is how Google decides a business is real and consistent enough to show.
  3. Started a review routine. Every happy customer gets asked, one at a time, inside Google's rules. Every review gets a written response. Reviews went from 8 to 22, all at 5.0.
  4. Kept doing it every week. None of this works as a one-time project. The routine is the product.

What moved first, and why

Reviews moved first because they are the lever a business controls most directly. Listings moved next because they are mechanical: build them correctly and they exist. Profile views followed once the profile looked like a business Google could trust. Rankings for competitive searches compound slower than any of these, and they come last. I publish the inputs because they come first and they do not lie.

What it turned into

The inputs are only worth publishing because of what followed them. By early September, six new customers had found FTL on Google and reached out, without a dollar spent on ads. Five became jobs, and the sixth was still in the works when the owner sent the count. The jobs were small, an hour or two each, which is how it usually starts: a customer tries you on something quick, and the bigger work comes later if you do it right. In the years the business had been open, it had never gotten a customer from search before.

What this would look like for your business

The work is the same for a roofer, a dentist, or a plumber. Profile, listings, reviews, then a website that says the same thing the profile does. If you want to know where your business stands today, the free visibility check is a written read of exactly that.
